A sunny day

Today was a mostly sunny day with a midday rain shower. We enjoyed a great swim in the morning and were going to take a dinghy ride in the afternoon but the outboard would not start. Bill has spent several hours cleaning varnish out of the fuel hoses and we are hoping that when he finishes it will run again. Weather permitting we plan to head out in the morning for the long trip to Ecuador.

The Perlas Islands

We upped anchor early today and moved on to the Perlas Islands. We had good wind at the start of our journey but by the time we crossed the shipping channels it had died off to very light. Mid day the wind increased again and we motor sailed with the main and mizzen as we wanted to reach the anchorage before dark. Emily got to see dolphins several times as we traveled, a big thrill for her. The anchorage proved to be real rolly so we have plans to move on to another island in the morning.

Taboga Island

We did get out of Panama City today but not very far. We are anchored at Isla Taboga which is only about 10 miles from where we started. We plan to spend two nights here if it stays as nice as it was today and then we plan to take off early Tuesday morning to the Perlas where we plan to enjoy ourselves while we wait for what looks like a good weather window to move on to Ecuador. We enjoyed a good swim for the first time in two months in very clear water.

Checked out of Panama – Saturday June 3

We have just checked out of Panama with plans to head out tomorrow morning, if the weather is not too bad. We plan to head to the Perlas Islands for a time of swimming before we continue on to Ecuador.
