Cruise Ship to Florida… Leaving Panama

Saturday, April 10 Bill and I closed up Lanikai, turning off or closing all that was needed to put the boat to rest for a month while we went to the states to visit Doreen’s parents in Montana. The first leg of our journey north was to go spend the night with Frank and Shirley at their condo in Albrook. There a van picked the four of us up Sunday morning; we made a stop at the edge of town to pick up Dan and Sara at their home in Clayton. The van then drove us across the peninsula from the Pacific side of Panama to Colon on the Caribbean side of the country, about an hour drive. The six of us boarded the Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Enchantment of the Sea, which was repositioning from Panama to the US, for the next leg of our northward journey.

Sunday April 11

We boarded the ship about noon carrying our entire luggage with us. Bill and I packed light as we have a few boxes of goodies waiting in Montana that will need to be carried south on our return trip. We dumped the luggage into our staterooms and met our friends and traveling companions on the upper deck.

First ship meal

Then it was off to the cafeteria for our first of many great meals on the ship. Afternoon naps, dinner in the dining room and a first evening show topped of our first day.

We participated in the required muster drill, now we knew where the right lifeboat station was should there be a silly disaster. We joined Frank and Shirley to watch the dock lines being dropped, but headed down to dinner before we actually got underway.
