A typical evening

Rici has been here for a couple days since he has been sick. Emily is still at basketball practice and Doug is still at work. The boys xnd I are enjoying a nice fire while I wish I could go climb in bed for the night!

Fishing

Both boys woke up with coughs and saying they didn’t feel too good. Dads answer. …. Let’s go fishing! Jacob caught a nice salmon which we enjoyed for dinner before heading to Emily’s basketball game in Lincoln city. Rici was also sick. I got a call to pick him up from school around noon.

Hay ride and corn maze

We took the kids to a local pumpkin patch and corn maze. Not the best setup ever but it was something to do. Afterwards we went to the cheese factory for ice cream. Now that was yummy!

Time Fly’s

Just a month ago I was doing a wonderful job with my blog updates and then…… nothing.  Sorry guys!  Life just gets busy and then before you know it, time is gone.

In the last month we continued getting the outside ready for the winter rains.  Grandma stopped by and helped paint the back wall of our house.  It was in huge need of repairs where the back door and porch was removed.  All repair jobs nicely blend and hopefully stay watertight till next year when we can reside the back of the house.  We replaced the shower outside to the right voltage so the insta-hot warms the water appropriately!  Thickened the gravel on the chicken coop paths, and hauled a load of wood into the wood shed.  Jacob mowed the lawns for what might end up being the last time. 

The last two days it has rained and I have enjoyed sitting in the house and reading several books.  It has been nice to just relax and have nothing to do.  Well, there are always things to do, but I like to pretend there aren’t.  The kids bathroom desperately needs to be gutted and re-done.  The laundry room is gutted and desperately needs to be finished.  The cabin bathroom is almost finished and would sure look nice if it was finished.  But we are sick of projects and need a break!!!  So they will sit. 

Kids are enjoying school.  Emily LOVES high school and wonders why she was ever nervous to go.  Jacob loves junior high and is currently in football.  I just wanna say he is the cutest football player out there in his uniform.  Nicolas is doing much better this year.  He has a very strict but very positive teacher this year that really seems to encourage him.  We all appreciate that!

We took a drift down the Nestucca River today. No fishin, just swimming. It was relaxing and fun. Later we came home to watch a movie and I crashed super early!

Almost done!

Washer, outside shower, water faucet for dogwater, and outside sink all plumbed in!  Doug even tore out part of the porch and we filled in the area with gravel! Maybe later this week we will get the electricity finished to the shower and finish the drain from the washer.
