New Years Eve

Once again we needed to get the kids outa the house and it wasn’t raining!!!  We went to some of Doug’s favorite fishing spots.  The kids and I tried to hike up a waterfall.  The terrain here is dense!!!

The next spot didn’t have any waterfalls but it did have a big boggy area to play in.  I jumped over a little stream and tripped landing right in the cold water.  Nic and Lexi loved making fun of us because they had waders on and were able to sit in the water as much as they wanted.  Jacob, Emily, and I were cold and wet.

Later that night we went over to the Clark’s for  New Years Eve.  By 10pm poor Doug was feeling terrible again.  We packed up and headed home.  He was in bed and asleep before the new year.  Poor guy, just can’t seem to shake this nasty cold, flu thing he has.

The hiking has been fun Emily. Especially through the thick brush. It’s not really hiking but climbing and crawling your way through vines and tree branches. I LOVE swimming but next time I think I will wait for the warm water! That water is ice cold.

Nestucca River Fun

It was slushy raining outside but the kids needed outa the house!  So we picked up some friends and headed up the Nestucca.  The kids played in the mud and water.  Everyone got soaked.  We didn’t last long, Doug didn’t feel good and Emily needed to get to the orthodontics.

December 26th

This afternoon Doug got an itch to go into Portland for some shopping and eat a good meal.  He called Mindy and arranged picking up Jacob.  Lexi wanted to stay a little longer.  Doug had been sick the last few days but thought he was feeling a little better.  By the time we finished dinner he realized he was wrong.  He just wanted to come home…. his body and head hurt.  So we headed home, the kids opened their stockings, and we all headed to bed.  It was late by then!

Christmas Day

I came home from work by 7:30 Christmas morning to dad awake and two sleeping kids.  I quickly took a shower and woke up the kids.  Then Aunt Ginger showed up with a whole lot of food.  Ginger set up yummy finger foods while the kids got busy opening presents.  Rici brought his stocking and was busy on that.  I’m not sure if you have ever seen our stockings… they are huge!  Grandma Gord knitted them.  They are adorable but HUGE!

Doug got three ice fishing poles from his parents.  He has been looking at these little guys just about every store we see them in.  Never buys them though because it just doesn’t get cold enough to ice over anything here on the coast.  Now Doug is scheming a trip up to Bend to ice fish.

I as feeling sleepy and tired so we all went to the beach.  Everyone loved it except Rici.  Poor kid hates the ocean.  Scares the tears out of him.  It probably doesn’t help that I had to throw him on a rock a few years back when a huge sneaker wave came up on him.

Nicolas had a blast getting wet.  It was alternating pouring down rain and sprinkling.   He was already wet and we were heading home to shower so we let him puddle stomp.  This was by far the best puddle!

We came home and cooked a ham while the kids played with their toys.  I was getting overwhelmingly tired so Aunt Ginger and Rici left and I went to bed by 7pm.  Long fun day!

Santa Tracker

MERRY CHRISTMAS

I was graced with the lucky schedule to work last night, sleep today on Christmas Eve, and work again tonight!  The good thing is that I get to track santa all the way across America tonight!  And Nicolas wants me to go on the roof and get a picture of his sled coming into Tillamook.  He says its no fair that I get to stay up all night on Christmas Eve!  I started tracking him last night as he came down from The North Pole, Stuck his tongue out at Alaska and all of us on the Pacific Coast, and turned East to start in Russia!  Why not travel West???  Where were we when the votes went in for which way time would move?  Some how the America’s got completely shafted on that one!

The good thing about working these two shifts is I do get to spend it with my best friend.  And today while I was sleeping Aunt Ginger came by to get the kids for a few hours.  She let the boys play and be boys while her and Emily worked on some christmas crafts and probably listened to christmas music.

Tomorrow morning Ginger will be bringing Rici out after presents.  Then we will all enjoy a fiesta of food while I try to stay awake.  I am going to take some video’s of Christmas morning but am unable to get them off of the camera at this time so maybe this summer you can all see video’s of our christmas!

Jacob and Alexa are still at their mom’s for the holidays.  They will come home a day or so after christmas and we will have another fiesta of food with stockings.

Almost Christmas

The last few days have been busy, but relaxing.  Monday we drove into Portland to drop off Jacob and Lexi to their mom.  We did a little shopping, looked at a new car we’ve been researching, ate some food, and drove home.  We had big plans to hit Costco but after eating we all just really wanted to be home.  I will have to do the Costco thing another day.

Tuesday we all enjoyed a lazy day.  Doug fished most of the day.  He is bound and determined to figure out these rivers and become that master fisherman again!  With the kids in school now, I say go for it.  Emily, Nic, and I went to Heather’s house for a while.  Heather helped me perm Emily’s hair.  Turned out really cute.

Wednesday Doug worked…bummers.  Emily and I made Baklava, we all beaded some bracelets.  I promised Nicolas that I would bead with him.  He made a very big, heavy, beautiful necklace!  Emily didn’t make anything.  She helped me restring all my bracelets I kept messing up!  She sure is a big help when she wants to be.

Today I have big plans to surprise the kids with High Tea at LaTeaDa.  Emily and Lexi have been dying to go there.  I will surprise Lexi with a trip later when she is home. 

Tonight I am off to work.  Bummers.  I will have to sleep on Christmas Eve.  So bummed about it but life is life.  My sister may drop in to do some cards with Emily.  She is really looking forward to that.  Nic is always looking forward to another chance to bust up life with Rici.

A busy day

This afternoon Nicolas had his Christmas Program.  I did not get any pictures but did get some videos.  Once I load them on the computer I will try and post.

After his Christmas Program I went with him to his class to make gingerbread houses.  Doug went over to Lexi’s school to help at her Christmas party.

Later the Clarks came over and the kids all made sugar cookies and frosted them.  They were way more into it then I thought they were way more into it then I thought they would be!

Well yours will be here sooner than you think! My parents get medicare and my oldest is starting high school next year… creepy! Oh, and by the way that high school kid…. she’s YOUR grandaughter. HA HA HA HA HA

Jacob’s Band Concert

Jacob had a band concert last night.  His mom came down for it.  Grandma and Grandpa Brill also drove down from Pendleton!  I made it after being up all night the night before, and dad made it after working all day!  It was so much fun to watch him and his classmates work so hard on something.  I have never seen Nicolas sit so still in a show of any kind.  It was adorable.  He was on the edge of his seat just staring at the different band instruments and their owners.  The singers sorta bored him but…. what do ya expect!  I’m thinking he will chose band come 6th grade rather than choir.

Today I did my usual errands in the morning and then was off to help in the kids schools.  I normally help with math in Lexi’s class.  Today though when I walked in, the entire class was very busy working on christmas ornaments and gifts.  It was a very excited class.  Nicolas had another great day at school.  He has had a new teacher for the last few days.  His teacher had her baby last Friday and is out for a while.  Nic’s new teacher is trying some new encouraging things to get him on track.  3 different people stopped me in the halls today to say what a wonderful kid he was this week, that he just seemed so happy this week, and what wonderful writing work he did with such focus this morning.  I was sooooo Happy!  I felt like the good mom finally!  And I could tell Nicolas was feeling like the good student finally!  Were keeping our fingers crossed for progression in the right direction!

After school it was home quickly for dinner and homework.  Then my awesome friend came by for Emily to go to youth group.  Basketball is officially over and she is able to start going to Youth Group again.  I’m wiped out and in my pj’s now waiting for Emmers to come home and dad to come home from work.  Then this tired momma is heading off to bed! 

I always find Wed are really tiring on me after no sleep Sunday and Monday nights.  I sleep like a log on waterfall on Tuesday nights but Wednesday mornings just come to early.  By tomorrow I will be recovered and hopefully hit the gym first thing in the morning.
