Father’s Day Early

I have to work on Sunday so we decided to have our Fathers Day barbecue today.  Dad got a new barbecue for fathers day so him and Nic spent the morning building it.  What a project!  We got a call from Jacob that he wanted to come home.  He missed his friends.  So Grandma and Grandpa agreed to go get him so that we could get things ready for the barbecue.  Emily and I cleaned and stuffed peppers, wrapped the peppers and tuna, and sliced zucchini, and peppers.  Doug and Nic just kept on building.  All was finally done by 4pm though!  Our friends the Martins and Clarks came over and we all enjoyed yummy yummy food.  Within the first few hours Jacob had a sleepover planned for Sunday night!

Halibut Fishing

After much bribing and a little force Nic decided to go fishing with Dad.  It was a good thing too because all of the fish that were hooked, did so on Nic’s line!  He ended up having a really good time and caught his very first Halibut ever!  So exciting.  They even made it back early enough for me to bring him to the beach as previously promised.

That is a HUGE bowl of Halibut to freeze.  Yummy fish taco’s for dinner tonight.

Alexa’s Dance

Today was Alexa’s final dance recital.  Her mom, John, and Grandma all made it here to watch her.  Then they all headed home with Jacob and Lex.  It was a bitter sweet.  Beautiful performance but sad to see them go.  We all know we will see Jacob soon.  His friends are here so he will be back!  But Lex is planning on going to school at Mom’s next year and is dearly missing her mom.  She too has friends here but is still at the age where parents are more important.  Poor Em was very sad, which helped keep me from tears.  I cried my eyes out last night so I was fairly cried out. 

Before she went though she did make me a few promises.  One was to continue lots of dancing!  Hopefully we will be watching her again next year…. she was a beautiful dancer!

Trampoline

Alexa’s Dance Rehearsal

Grandma and I brought Lex to her dress rehearsal.  She will be in four dances this time around.  Grandma got some pretty good video’s.  No pictures though.  Maybe tonight at the first performance we will get pictures of her at least in her costume. 

Her ballet routine is to the song Under the Sea.  It was soooo cute.  She has really turned into a good little dancer.  I was totally tearing up!  This is a video of the dance.  I would like to get a picture of the final pose.  It is very cute!

Can’t wait to see her tonight in the actual performance!

Chicken Coop

We continually are losing chickens.  Doug currently has two traps set but that just doesn’t seem to be answering the problem.  So after some research we decided to fence in a small pen around the hen house door.  Yesterday Grandma and I dug post holes and concreted in the posts.  Today Doug put boards 5 feet up around the pen.  Hopefully the chickens will be able to fly to the top board and fly out for the day.  We then put fencing around the lower portion, then chicken wire over that and buried around the bottom, then four rows of barb wire between the top of the fencing and the board.  I don’t think any critters are going to make it past that!  Lastly Doug got a truck load of gravel that we filled the mini yard with.  This will help keep the mud out of the hen house during the winter months.

BeyBlades

Last Day of School

Today is the last day of school.  I worked last night so I am going to try and get a little sleep before they all come home at noon after early release.  Let the summer begin!!!
