Of course, we had a blast. But we came home exhausted.
… just another hectic day …

We surprised the kids with a trip to Great Wolf Lodge. It was sort of a last minute decision. Made around 2pm. By 4pm we were all loaded in the car. Nic, Lex, and Dad aren’t feeling so good but still really excited. We got here by about 8:30. Just enough time for everyone to jump into swim suits and get a good 20 minutes in the water. By the time we got back to the room at 9:15 to shower Nic was saying he wasn’t feeling good. I told him to lean over the sink… thinking it was drama. Nope! Poor little kiddo is sick. He’s asleep now and I’m hoping he wakes up fine in the morning. We will see.

Oh boy was Nicolas excited today! Dad pulled out the bushes out front with his truck! That was just too exciting for Nicolas.

Demolition Derby at our house this afternoon. Nic, Dad, Rici, and Jacob started tearing into the front porch. Within a few hours it was GONE! Big mess so a few wheelbarrows of gravel and hopefully a little less mud will track into our house.

The last few nights at work have been busy. I was even able to get an extra shift on Saturday night! This morning as I was leaving I noticed that Ginger’s car was not in the parking lot. I drove by her house to make sure all was well. Poor thing was miserably sick. So I brought Rici home to play with Nic. Nicolas’ class was taking a field trip into Portland and Nicolas was not permitted to go without Doug or I. Unfortunately a bus full of first graders on no sleep did NOT sound like fun. Doug was working so… we kept Nic at home. Turns out this was a pivotal moment for Nicolas. He really has been a good kid ever since he found out. Especially since Lexi told him there are tons of fun field trips in 2nd grade. Anyway Rici was told by his mom to be good and let me sleep so….
Were driving in the car to my house.
Rici : Auntie?
Me: yes
Rici: Do you know that it’s morning?
Me: yes, I watched the sun rise this morning, it is definitely morning.
Rici: Then why are you going to bed?
Me: oh, I didn’t sleep last night honey, I work at night while you sleep
Rici: oh, well I went to bed when my timer went off. (This was said in a very noble yet sassy voice. Apparently I should ask my boss for a timer and tell her I will be sleeping when it goes off.)

No pictures again…. bummers. It was a busy one though so come on …. chill!!! This morning Doug took off to do a little fishing on the trask. Nicolas and I read some “mighty machine” books. Then got busy cutting poor springer ridiculous hair. So it wasn’t a very good hair cut but hopefully the shedding will slow down.
Ginger showed up around 10am with Rici. The boys jumped on the trampoline for a little while. Then we all took off for the local garden center, Don’s Waterfalls. After almost 5 years of living here I finally checked the place out! They were so incredibly helpful and educational. Ginger and I both learned a lot about why certain plants weren’t growing here year after year. Due to the lengthy lesson, I now have several plants sitting in my house for the next month or so. Doug has also been on the internet more than his share looking for a good greenhouse.
Ginger was a HUGE help planting a lot of my plants and moving a lot of the others to bigger pots for the indoors. It was a HUGE HUGE help. I can’t thank her enough. Some of the new things in my yard now are artichokes, asparagus, sweet peas, and cabbage. Inside there is tons of stuff just waiting for a slow down in the weather and rain.
Later in the evening Doug, Nic, and I hauled gravel to the little entrance into our chicken coop. Nicolas also used his dump truck to haul gravel to my hose area. Last year he managed to make a massively huge mud pie there. This year I think some gravel will be helpful!
We finally came in and I made some dinner. Then Nicolas bathed with the ducklings, Doug and I took showers, and we headed off to the Clarks for Survivor. What a great life! Busy but GREAT!

This morning we decided to keep Nicolas home from school. We then rapidly decided to keep both Lexi and Nicolas home from school. Doug went out fishing while I took the kids into town. We were on the hunt for a trampoline! Luckily we found one at Fred Meyers for half price! Can’t beat that! Of course it was way to big for our car so we settled for a bunch of vegetable plants. Lexi, Nic, and I headed home to weed the vegetable gardens and get them ready for the new plants. Once good and muddy, Doug came home from fishing. We all went back into town to pick up the trampoline and some fresh soil for our vegetable containers. By the time we ate, at a very yummy Chinese restaurant, and got the trampoline home and built we were pooped. There wasn’t any time to plan the veggie plants. Jacob was arriving home from school and Emily was arriving back to school from her field trip. So off we both ran in different directions to continue with our nightly routine. Lexi had dance, Doug and I both needed to work out, Emily needed to be picked up, Lexi and Jacob both needed to be transported to Mindy’s for the weekend, Nic and Doug needed to mow the lawn. Bla Bla Bla
This evening once the house was calm Doug and I met some friends for drinks at the Schooner. It was our first time there. Definitely nice for both couples to get out of our houses! We are now back home and ready for bed. Tomorrows gonna be a busy day! We’ve got plants to plant, a work out calling our name, and gravel to spread. Oh ya, we also had a load of gravel dropped off today!
Like I said, busy busy day!

Tonight is Jacob’s last track meet. It isn’t local unfortunately. Well, maybe fortunately though because it is pooring rain outside again! His final meet is in Astoria instead, and my bets are…. it is raining there as well. This morning I got some quick photo’s of him before he turns in his track uniform.
Isn’t he soooo cute!!! I’m proud of him. He has really enjoyed track this year…. I think some of it may have been due to the girls though!

Sometimes it is so miserable to get so behind on the blog. We are so busy, we do so much, yet trying to get it to all of you is just the topper on the cake. So in the last few weeks Doug has been out on the ocean twice. He has taken pictures but….. ya, I need to finish the foto album to get them out. I will work on that. The girls and I went out for a really nice Mother’s Day High Tea! Can’t wait till my mom comes to town so that her and my sister can enjoy a nice High Tea together!!! The girls got out of school early for a surprise and we all, including Grandma Brill, went to tea…. It was soooo much fun.
Friday Jacob had a track meet here in town so Grandma and Grandpa Brill came to watch. It was ridiculous and completely unorganized. so in the pooring rain and 40 degree temperatures we finally took a blue Jacob home to a warm shower.
This afternoon the Phan’s came to visit We still haven’t gotten together since Christmas so it was time to have our family Christmas!!! The kids, of course, had fun!
In the last few days since Grandpa Brill has been here they have managed to get the counter in the bathroom. Doug and his dad got the sink, drain, and faucet in as well. We are hoping to brace the counter with a shelf, get the mirror in, and finish the lighting. A little trim and the bathroom will be finished. But there is running water finally!!!
