Happy Easter

I got home this morning to help Ginger with the Easter Eggs outside.  Then we both went inside to find Doug and the 5 very happy kids.  I got a quick shower and then Doug let the kids out of their rooms.  They all checked out their Easter Baskets and ate some food.  Ginger has spent the last week preparing yummy little bite sized foods for today.  It was delicious! 

We had hidden over 600 eggs outside for the kids.  Each of them needed to make several trips inside to empty out their basket/bucket and start again.  There were so many eggs that the lawns ended up just getting scattered with them.  We are still missing somewhere between 20 and 30 eggs!!!

Once the kids were all finished counting and sorting their eggs we surprised them with a treasure hunt!  This is Easter Egg hung pirate style… or older kid style!

Rici was the first to get his clue.  This way the older kids could help him.  Rici has never had a treasure hunt and wasn’t sure what to make of it.  By the time he found his treasure though I think he thought it was pretty cool.  He got 5 five dollar bills!

Then the Brill kids got their clues.  I had girls work together and boys work together.  I was really proud of all of them for working together so well.  Next treasure hunt will need much harder clues though because they were very smart about how they hunted for the next clue.  They broke up and would each look under different sinks or by different fire pits…. smart little stinkers!

By 11am I was all tuckered out and heading off to bed.  Ginger was already packed up and heading out as well.  I managed to sleep till 5 when Doug woke me up for a delicious Ham dinner that he had made.  Back to work I went for my final night….. Thank Goodness!  A friend traded me my Monday night for her upcoming Saturday night.  I am so exhausted that right now I am extremely relieved this is my last night for now.

Easter Eggs

Emily went out to Netarts after school today to hang out with Gabe and some other Friends.  Alexa had two friends over and poor Nicolas was sooooo bored.  So he decorated easter eggs!

He had so much fun, although he didn’t understand why the girls wouldn’t decorate with him…. They ended up decorating later.


The hospital decided to get busy for some unknown reason so the extra shifts I signed up for a few weeks ago are becoming a reality.  I have to head out to work tonight… bummers!

Busy Busy Busy

I was doing such a good job keeping the blog updated and then poof another week has gone by!  So to update you on the baby chicks.  They stayed in the boys room for only one night!  By Thursday after school Nicolas and dad were moving them into the garage.  This isn’t so bad an idea though, 12 little chicks don’t smell very good!

Friday was an even more awful day for Nic at school.  He came home early and headed to bed.  The rest of the weekend he was amazing!  Him and dad set the raccoon trap.  We are currently down to 4 hens.  Something has been getting them again.  I fixed the timer so the light would stay on in their hen house for the entire night time.  I’m hoping this discourages the little rascals and they stay out!

Jacob and Lexi went to their mom’s for the weekend.  They came home Sunday and I headed out to work.  Then the week has started over for us.  Jacob has his second track meet tonight.  He is pretty excited about it.  I’m hoping he does a few running events. 

Nic’s week hasn’t been so good again but I am keeping my fingers crossed for a good day today.  We will see!

Baby Chicks

Nicolas and I picked up baby chicks today after school.  We set them up in his room as sort of a bribe.  He gets a stop and think and they move to the garage.  He doesn’t and they get to stay.

Attitude is Everything

This is a little saying we have around here and use often.  Last night I had to say it to myself over and over.  It works though, and the statement couldn’t be more true!

I was sound asleep and had been for about 1.5 hours when my phone rang.  It was 10pm.  Someone wanted to go home cause there tummy was upset.  Funny cause according to Doug she looked fine just three hours before during report.  Funny cause when I showed up to relieve her she looked fine too.  I as furious with her!  ABSOLUTELY FURIOUS!  I let her know this too.  I told her that it wasn’t fair to her co-workers that she was unreliable.  That if she wanted to pick up extra shifts she needed to be working them.  That her continuous sick calls were unfair to the rest of the staff.  Of course at this point she offered to stay but I was showered, awake, and there so she needed to go home.  I wasn’t mad at the hospital for needing me.  I was on call and that’s my job.  I was just really frustrated with the lack of team work from this particular employee.  Especially since it wasn’t the first time she has screwed me.  Never this bad but her sick calls have had their affect on me.  But what can I say, she is young, a brand new nurse, and has a lot of growing up to do.  I was there once too. 

Anyway, ended up being a good shift (once I woke up).  And I ended up being able to stay awake the rest of the shift.  The best thing was I didn’t have to take vacation pay to pay for my day off and I still had a good day with the kids on Monday so in the end, I WON!!!

I came home this am and slept, and boy did I sleep!  I woke up around 2pm to clean the house and get myself in a chipper mood before the kids came home.  We had dinner and then I was showered and back in bed by 6pm.  Now I’m just waiting for Doug to come home and take over parenting so I can drift into zzzz land

The kids were out of school today for a teachers inservice day.  I had originally taken tonight off so that I wouldn’t have to sleep very much and could enjoy the day with the kids.  There was a sick call though so at noon when I woke up I went ahead and offered to be on call.  5 patients in the hospital, call seems like a good gamble.  It will take another sick call or a good 5 admits for them to need me. 

Emily had plans to meet her friends at the YMCA at 1pm.  It was such a gorgeous day that I brought the other kids to the beach for a while.  It was a perfect afternoon and kept me awake. 

Now were home and I am off to an early bed incase something happens at work.  I am exhausted!!!

Busy Day

It may not seem like much but this was a TON of work!  Ended up taking all day.  Electricity was moved around to make 2 plugs from two different circuits and one light from an even different circuit.  Plumbing also had to be figured and a drain.  That all seems simple but it was a lot of figuring and planning 3 steps ahead to make sure it would all fit.  Plugs had to fit in to make sure that the mirror and lights would fit.  Drain had to be at the right height.  Plumbing had to be able to run into our hot water tank and then back out.  Man oh Man!  But in the end, the back wall has drywall and insulation and is FINISHED!!!  Of course the other walls now need insulation and drywall but that will be much easier.  Then we will finish the drywall, paint, and be ready for the counter and sink.  Bathroom finished!!!!  But I am getting ahead of myself, at the rate we work it might be done in a month or so!!!

More Projects

Grandma and Grandpa Brill arrived yesterday for a visit.  Naturally we have a list of projects…. it is no wonder we rarely have visitors!  We wear them out!!!  We were really hoping to move some electricity around in the bathroom, plumb in the sink water and drain, and maybe a little dry wall in the bathroom. 

Today this little hot water heater came for under the sink!  Things are looking promising.  Gene and I managed to figure out where all the plugs were going and wire in a few for above the bathroom sink.  Also turned the 220 wire we were going to use for a hot water heater into a 110 plug for the water heater.  Now with an empty spot on the circuit breaker we will break off the heater to be on it’s own.  Things are moving forward.  Maybe tomorrow plumbing will go in!  We will see.
