The entire first grade class went on a field trip to the Newport Aquarium today. I got to go along!! It has been an incredibly busy week for us. Doug and I have both picked up extra shifts and we are both really tired. This morning at 3am we were woken up by the dogs barking. Turns out there was a girl in our backyard that just couldn’t quite figure out where she was or what was happening. She was picked up by the police by 3:30 or so but sleep was difficult after that. Doug had to go to work by 6:30 so he just stayed up. I had to go to the aquarium, then work nights so I tried to go back to sleep. Didn’t work to well.
The aquarium was lots of fun to watch all the kids so excited running around. There was lots of parent helpers, thankfully!!! I had four kids to keep track of. It was plenty! The aquarium is encouraging recycling, and throwing things away where they belong. They had all sorts of large scale fish, turtles, sharks, etc. that were made from garbage found on beaches. It was pretty impressive! We played “I spy” with many of the items finding things like tooth brushes, lighters, electrical wire, bullet shells, plastic bottles, etc. The kids loved it!
The Favorite was the shark tunnel!
The playground is always a big hit too. It gave all the kids a chance to run and play and stretch their legs.
By the time Nicolas and I got home from the aquarium school was out. The rest of the evening was busy running kids around and panicking about getting a little sleep. Then I got put on call!!! YEA! I so needed call tonight. Hopefully I will get to sleep for a while.
