The kiddo’s always like to make forts. Here Lexi and Nic are enjoying theirs while Lexi reads to Nic. Really weird. I didn’t ask her to read. She just decided to. Such a sweet sister. Nic even sat still and listened.
… just another hectic day …

I spent the morning getting dresses made. I purchased some material months ago to make them for our great wolf lodge trip. Of course there is nothing like waiting for the last minute! I think I always get mad at the kids for that! Alexa is at her mom’s this weekend so I had to use Nicolas as her manikin.
I also made Emily and I some and Emily’s friend that is going with us.
Nicolas spent the entire day building and re-building legos.
We did make it to the pool midday for a swim and a work out though. We also took a break to mow some of the lawn for the cows dinner. Nicolas was a huge help with this. Emily helped too, just not as enthused. They hauled the grass to the cows in buckets so I could keep mowing.
Emily and I listened to a good portion of Eclipse. Chapter 3 through chapter 18. At that point Doug came home from work so Emily grabbed the headphones to continue on with the saga.
We had a pretty good day.
Nic had smiles
and fits (Very Minimal though)

I needed this. We had a wonderful lazy night. The kids ate their own dinner. Lex made Nacho’s. Nicolas had the ever famous Nachos. Jacob… hmmm. I think he skipped dinner and went straight for the ice cream. Not such a big deal cause the kids could use some calories! Emily went to a friends after school for a sleepover and a trip to a water park tomorrow. Doug and I, well, we just enjoyed the kids and the peace. They cleaned their messes in the kitchen. They played games on the floor at our feet. And they were happy, smiling, and helpful kids. RARE I know!
We had plans for a much busier evening. Baseball practice then a two hour trip to meet Mommy Mindy and exchange the kids for the weekend. Turns out Baseball practice was canceled due to rain. And the traffic was horrid…. duh, holiday weekend at the beach! We will meet first thing in the morning instead.
We also watched three movies. I know, ridiculous! That is a lot of time on our hands. We watched Up, Night at the Museum 2, and Bolt. We had a beautiful fire. And best of all…. I relaxed. I so needed it.
Everyone looks very happy. Obviously you are doing the right things.. I look back and guess that movies would have been a help to mom and the 9.
Oh Grandpa you are so sweet! I’m sure there are a million things I could do better or different. I will notice some when I am watching them raise their kids!
I’m not sure that anything would have helped Grandma with 9 kids. That is suicide! I admire her to pieces doing it. Especially the blended family side. She is sort of my role model. It is so much harder to be a loving parent to a step child than your own. You second guess everything.
And as far as movies with your children….. did they even have them then?!?!?
Love ya!

Nice having fun playing at his brother’s game. He is such a boy! Jacob hit a homerun and 2 people scored plus him! His team ended up tying with the other team with Jacob’s finale! Go Jacob.

Today I was woken up by “mom….an animal peed in the living room……WHAT?!?” Yep by 630 am I was ripping out the carpet. I figured it would take me almost as long to clean it. Let’s just say the carpet wasn’t worth cleaning.
It was ripped out, cleaned, and furniture replaced before nic went to school. WOW!!!
I’m sure you’re asking yourself “630 am?… ripping out the carpet?… what in the world?…. “ Well I just have to answer with “I get it from my Mom! Just ask my dad!!!”

Nicolas was such a big helper! He helped with the pliears to pull all the difficult staples and then wen’t behind me vacuming the area.
The big pile of NASTY carpet waiting for Doug to help haul it off to the dump.
Yup, you get it from your mom!

And they say their dog doesn’t come into our yard…..
I know the one on the right doesn’t look incriminating but the darn camera didn’t snap the photo quick enough. It had just been in our yard heading back over to it’s field. But don’t you worry! I’ll get more.

I can’t believe it! Nicolas has finally started eating at dinner with us. Sounds lame, I know. But this has been a difficult task. He normally says he’s not hungry, then starts in on the fussing right about bedtime that he is STARVING! I’m okay with him not eating if he truly isn’t hungry. I’m not okay with the fussing. The last two nights we’ve had two meals he ordinarily would have left alone. Enchiladas and Meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Both nights he ate!
After Dinner everyone helped with chores.
Then we had a nice evening together.

This is our adorable black cow. He ate too much. Now he is miserable. And our neighbor thinks we don’t feed them enough! HA!!!
Can you see the bulge on his stomach! It is scary huge. Our nice neighbor even came over to get us because it looks so bad. Were just gonna watch him tonight. Tried to feed him some baking soda but he wanted none of it. Next time we’ll feed half of what we fed today!

It has been a busy whirl wind day. From first thing this morning right up until bedtime. Busy Busy Busy. Just when I thought things were calming down and I was going to get a little break (about 1ish) it got even busier. I heard a cow mooing in serious distress and went outside to see what on earth was going on. Oh, nice, Taco Bell decided he was done in the chicken coop and nicely tore the fencing down to chew on the grass behind our cabin. Okay, fine! Play that way. I fed them grain, which I used to luer him back in, took care of the chickens, and gathered the eggs. On the way out I attempted to fix the fence and left to resume my relaxing. About 15 minutes later. MOOOOOOOOO MOOOOOOOO. Dang…. Seriously?!? Yep, Taco Time was in the chicken coop bellowing like crazy that his buddy had jumped the coop again. Okay, that is it. This time I luered them into the other field. This field by the way is covered in baby grass and I really didn’t want them there. But what’s a girl to do. I really wanted to relax for a little bit before school is out. Got back in the house looked at the clock. I had 10 minutes before it was time to get the kids from school. Nice! The evening only got busier as the kids all got home and we had to get into town for Jacob’s baseball pictures. Then it was off to a surprise movie for the kids. Home by 1015, in bed by 1045 after I noticed that Nicolas had nicely cut his DS charger cord. Ticked off now I climbed in bed exhausted but unable to sleep. So like I said…. What a day!
I presume that means Nic is now without a DS for an *extended* period of time? He should be!! Go Nic!!
