Driving in the car.  Nicolas is playing with a play tractor and a toy gun in the back seat.  Nicolas asks….

“Do you guys have any explosives at home that I could use?”

The car was dead silent for a few minutes after that.

Easter Dress Shopping

Emily and I went to Fred Meyers to find Emily an Easter dress.  It was the easiest trip ever.  We walked in, both spotted two dresses we loved.  We took them to the dressing room.  They were both too cute to pass up.  Okay, buying them both.  Now for shoes.  Walked down the isles, found some shoes.  Tried them on and they fit.  Hit the check stand and done!  All under 15 minutes!!!

Forks, Wa… For Nicolas

We were informed on the way home by Nicolas that….

“today was no fun and tomorrow morning when I wake up it will be All ABOUT ME!!!”

So I want to throw in some proof that he got a little enjoyment out of the day.  Anyone that knows Nicolas will know that he loves tractors!

Forks, Washington

We surprised Emily with a road trip to Forks, WA.  We loaded the car and left early.

We didn’t end up sticking around for the night.  There was one fun store in town and a whole lot of junk.  I guess that is the polite way to say it.  The Chamber of Commerce was really nice and they were really into the whole “twilight” thing.  That’s where it ended though.  The fancy restaurant we stopped at for dinner was, well, not so fancy!  It was downright disgusting!!!  The meals were 20.00+ which would make one think a little more upscale.  Nope!  When we were waiting to be seated a dirty man with a beer belly and stuff smeared on his shirt walked over and turned the sign around.  Now the sign reads “seat yourself”.  He didn’t talk to us and walked away…. weird.  So we find a seat.  Ooops ketchup smeared all over the tablecloth.  Find another seat.  He brings us silverware, still not talking.  Nicolas picks up the salt and pepper shaker…. greasy!  Emily looks at her silverware, dirty!  Ohh this is not good.  But we be polite, make the most of it and order our food.  Just a burger and clam chowder.  Oh, no clam chowder, not ready.  It is 5:15… why is the soup not ready??!?!?  That was when we politely said we had to go.  Had a hilarious laugh about it later.  Poor Emily didn’t think it was funny.  She had tears in her eyes and was completely miserable.  I think she had really planned on Forks being some kind of movie outside a movie.  Nope, just a dirty little town right outside of a really dirty Indian reservation.  Too bad too because hundreds of people seem to flock there to catch a whiff of a vampire.  Stephanie Meyers has handed them a huge gift and they don’t seem to care.  That’s okay though, we had a good trip, did the tour, had a good laugh, then drove home.  If someone is smart they will buy some land on the edge of town by the forest, build a real Bella house, open a nice restaurant.  Then the upstairs could be fixed up as Bella’s room and people could tour it.  That would have been worth paying for!  Then the kicker.  When we got home Emily researched where the film was done… Portland, St. Helens, Multnomah Falls!!!!  Are you kidding me!!!  That close!  But none of them have the sign…. FORKS, Washington.  That’s a 6 hour drive North if you too want your picture by it!

Aunt Susie’s House

Spring break so no school.  Emily, Nic, and I went up the Coast to Aunt Susie’s house.  It was fun.  Emily and Nicolas got to swing on the famous swing.  Nic’s eyes were as big as saucers flying out over the drop off.  Adele was there with her new little one Larry.  He is such a cutey and such big boy!  Adele is such a good mom too!.  Then we went over to Alyssa’s house for dinner. She barbecued us some yummy chicken and vegetables.  It was delicious.  She sure has grown up!  Emily really enjoyed hanging at Alyssa’s.  She’s always remembered her as her “sissy” and I think she was in awe with her being so grown up and having her own house.  A nice house too!

A Cruel Trick

What a cruel trick this machine is!  Yikes.  Exercised for 30 minutes on it.  It kicked my butt… and my thighs, and calves!!!

A bit late on the comment, sorry…

We had an exercise room on the Cruise ship. Lots of Stair Steppers and Tread Mills.

I tried (and mostly succeeded) at putting in a hard 30 minutes on the tread mill every morning.

I agree with the butt-kicking observation !!

Twilight

Last night was the release of New Moon at Midnight at Fred Meyers. Emily and I went there to pick up the movie.  Then we dropped off the movie to some friends at the hospital.  We were back home in bed by 1230am.  Now it’s 630am and were watching it.  Neither of us have seen it because when the movie was in the theaters it wasn’t such a big hit to us.  Since then I have read all the books.  Emily is almost finished with the first book.

Portland

We all went into Portland today.  Did some shopping, got a great lunch at our favorite restaurant, The Olive Garden.  Jacob and Alexa headed back to their mom’s for spring break.  When we got home Doug had all of his exciting presents he ordered from Cabelas on our front porch.  It was a bananza!  He was  like a giddy 2 year old. Nicolas was just as giddy considering they were fishing poles!

Feels Like Friday

Another week has flown by.  It is Thursday but tomorrow is the start of Spring Break.  I guess they start it a day early!  This last week was pretty uneventful.  Kids went to school.  Doug and I worked.  We started bringing Alexa to and from school so she wouldn’t have to be on the bus so long.  Seems kind of silly to be on the bus for 40 minutes when she only lives 5 minutes down the road.  Her and Nicolas love to get home before the others and have a little time to play.  I hope it helps. Jacob had a fun Pajama Jam on Wednesday evening.  Read his blog to find out all about it.  This evening we all enjoyed a smorgasbord of food and watched a movie.  Tomorrow Jacob and Alexa are off to their mom’s for the week.  We’ll keep you all posted on our week out of school.  Dad and I have some surprises up our sleeves!

My Boys

We did some shopping today and the boys were walking in front of us into the store.  I had to get a picture of them sporting their new hats.  Aren’t they the cutest!  Don’t tell Jacob I said that…. he’s too old to be cute!  At least by a mom’s standards.
